How do you connect multiple business units with different expertise and goals on an outdated intranet? Mosadex, a group of pharmaceutical companies serving pharmacies, drugstores, care partners, and patients, faced this challenge. The organization aimed to elevate its internal communication and strengthen the connection between its various entities. The existing intranet no longer provided the right support, making it time for a modern and future-proof platform that fits Mosadex’s growth and ambitions.
Fragmented communication
The old intranet, Mosanet, had served its purpose but no longer met the needs of a modern organization. Engagement was declining, and the platform lacked structure and support for internal communication. In an organization where cross-location and cross-team collaboration is crucial, the need for a new, integrated intranet grew—one that simplifies daily work, brings structure, enables ownership, and actively engages employees.
This need was widely acknowledged internally. “We risked having each business unit go its own way—own tools, own news updates. The team spirit was fading. We wanted to prevent that,” says Judith Kemps, product owner of MosaPlein and communications specialist at Mosadex. Choosing a centralized platform wasn’t just a technical step—it was an investment in collaboration, engagement, and shared identity.
The search for a new intranet started with a clear requirement from the IT department: the new platform had to fit within the Microsoft landscape. Thanks to previous interactions, Mosadex connected with us.
SharePoint as the solution
We started with a phased approach, beginning with a joint exploration of the needs and goals for the new intranet. This phase provided space to clarify expectations and explore possibilities together. For Mosadex, it confirmed that SharePoint was the right choice—as was partnering with Macaw.
The new intranet was built using SharePoint, enhanced by Viva Connections—two powerful solutions within the Microsoft 365 platform. SharePoint offers a secure and flexible foundation for structuring and managing content, while Viva Connections provides a personalized and integrated experience within Microsoft Teams. Thanks to this combination, Mosadex now has a central platform that gives employees quick access to relevant information, streamlines communication, and fosters ownership. With this Microsoft-powered solution, Mosadex now experiences:
-
Greater engagement and reach: News and updates are automatically shown in Teams, so employees see and read them more actively.
-
One central place for everything: Instead of emails or scattered Teams messages, employees now find policies, updates, and tools in one logical location.
-
More ownership across the organization: Content owners from various departments can now manage their own content independently, without relying on a central editorial team.
A scalable SharePoint platform
Each department received its own dedicated space within a central structure. What sets our approach apart is that we don’t just deliver the technology—we think along with you on adoption, content strategy, and internal engagement. We combined our technical expertise with tailored guidance: from wireframes and template design to training and aftercare.
Our personal and human-centered approach made a lasting impression. Adoption specialist Amancio played a key role with clear instruction videos, one-on-one support, and accessible consultation hours that made content management simple and approachable. “We couldn’t have rolled this out without Amancio,” says Judith Kemps.
Alongside training, Macaw and Mosadex developed a clear framework to embed ownership in the organization. Content owners received clear guidelines, an online toolkit, and ongoing support through monthly check-ins. “I keep content creation simple and doable by asking content owners to spend just 10 minutes every two weeks. It works and keeps MosaPlein vibrant,” says Judith.
“A new intranet only works when people embrace it. That’s why we focused on adoption from the start: by explaining the ‘why’, involving people in the ‘how’, and giving enough room for training and feedback. You can really see that in how the platform is used now.”
– Amancio Quant, Solution Consultant at Macaw
A modern, vibrant and connecting SharePoint platform
The new SharePoint intranet, now called MosaPlein, has become an essential part of daily work. Employees are better informed, internal engagement has visibly improved, and communication lines are shorter and more efficient.
Employees now spend an average of four to five minutes a day on the homepage, actively reading news updates. What once came from a central communication team is now in the hands of employees themselves. With content owners taking the lead, ownership has grown, and team connection has strengthened. Staff departments now have a consistent place to share organization-wide information—without relying on email or Teams.
The collaboration with Macaw is described as warm, knowledgeable, and solution-oriented. Project leader Anouk ten Voorde sums it up perfectly:
“Macaw understood our hybrid nature. No standard solution, but flexibility and attention to ownership. Always honest and informal in communication.”
“We always felt heard, there was space for feedback, and we were truly supported from strategy to aftercare.”
– Judith Kemps, Product Owner of MosaPlein and Communications Specialist at Mosadex
