Mosadex Takes a Step Toward a Modern SharePoint Intranet with Macaw
How do you connect multiple organizational units with diverse areas of expertise and goals on an outdated intranet? Mosadex, a group of pharmaceutical companies that provides services to pharmacies, drugstores, healthcare partners, and patients, among others, faced this challenge. The organization wanted to take internal communication to the next level and thereby strengthen the connection between the companies. The existing intranet no longer provided the necessary support, so it was time for a modern and future-proof platform that aligns with Mosadex’s growth and ambition.
Fragmented Communication
Mosanet, the old intranet, had served its purpose but no longer met the needs of a modern organization. Interaction was declining, and the platform offered insufficient support for information sharing and internal communication. In an organization where collaboration across locations and teams is crucial, there was a growing need for a new intranet that could be easily integrated into daily work, provide structure, foster a sense of ownership, and actively engage employees.
This need was also widely supported internally. “The organization ran the risk that each department would go its own way: using its own tools and providing its own news. The sense of community was disappearing. We wanted to prevent that,” explains Judith Kemps, MosaPlein product owner and communications specialist at Mosadex. The decision to adopt a central platform was therefore not merely a technical step, but an investment in collaboration, engagement, and a shared identity.
The search for a new intranet began with a clear requirement from the IT department: the new platform had to fit within the Microsoft ecosystem. Mosadex reached out to us based on previous interactions.
SharePoint as the Solution
At Mosadex, we took a phased approach, beginning with an initial phase in which we worked together to identify the needs and objectives for the new intranet. This exploratory phase provided the opportunity to clarify requirements and explore possibilities together. For Mosadex, this confirmed that choosing a SharePoint environment was the right decision, as was the choice of Macaw.
The intranet was built on SharePoint, supplemented with Viva Connections—two powerful solutions within the Microsoft 365 platform. SharePoint provides a secure, flexible foundation for structuring and managing content, while Viva Connections ensures a personalized and integrated user experience within Microsoft Teams. Thanks to this combination, Mosadex now has a central platform that gives employees quick access to relevant (work-related) information, streamlines communication, and encourages ownership. Thanks to these Microsoft solutions, Mosadex now experiences:
- Greater engagement and reach: news and updates now appear automatically in Teams, allowing employees to see them faster and read them more actively.
- One central location for everything: instead of email or scattered Teams chats, employees can now quickly find policies, news, and tools in one logical place.
- Greater ownership across the organization: Content managers from different organizational units can now manage their content independently, without relying on a central editorial team.

Each organizational unit was given its own environment within a single central structure. What sets our approach apart is that we don’t just provide the technology—we also actively contribute ideas on adoption, content strategy, and internal engagement. We combined our expertise with tailored guidance: from wireframes and template design to training and ongoing support.
Our personal and human approach also stood out. Adoption specialist Amancio played a key role in this. With clear instructional videos, personalized guidance, and accessible office hours, he made content management simple and accessible. “Without Amancio, we wouldn’t have been able to roll this out,” says Judith Kemps.
In addition to training sessions, Macaw and Mosadex also developed an approach to truly embed ownership. Content managers were given clear guidelines, an online toolkit, and received active support through monthly check-ins. “I make posting content manageable by asking content managers to spend just 10 minutes every two weeks. That works well and keeps MosaPlein vibrant,” says Judith.
“A new intranet only truly works when people embrace it. That’s why we focused on adoption from the very beginning: by explaining the ‘why’ to employees, involving them in the ‘how,’ and providing ample opportunity for training and feedback. You can now see the results in how it’s being used.”

A modern, vibrant, and engaging SharePoint platform
The new SharePoint intranet was named MosaPlein and has since become an indispensable part of daily operations. Employees are now better informed, internal engagement has visibly increased, and lines of communication have become shorter and more efficient.
Employees spend an average of four to five minutes a day on the homepage and actively read the news posts. What used to be handled through central communication channels is now in the hands of the employees themselves. With content managers at the helm, ownership is increased, and the bond between teams is strengthened. Support departments now also have a dedicated space to share organization-wide information, without having to go through email or Teams.
The collaboration with Macaw is perceived as warm, professional, and solution-oriented. Project leader Anouk ten Voorde sums it up aptly: “Macaw understood our hybrid nature. No one-size-fits-all approach, but rather flexibility and a focus on ownership. And they were always honest and informal in their interactions.”
“We always felt heard, there was room for feedback, and we were really well guided from strategy through to follow-up.”
